Who will read this?

...I assume that no one will be reading this first blog entry...who even knows it exists?!

I read lots of other runner's blogs, and I enjoy other's reflections of their running lives, and how their regular lives mix into running.

I am a mom of two boys (more on that later) and much of my running life occurs with my boys in tow.  They sit back and enjoy the ride while I sing songs to them as we glide across the pavement on good days, and on bad days, well, let's just say I am glad to see our driveway approaching at the end of the run!

I was told recently that people in the neighbourhood know me as "that woman always running with the kids in the buggy."  When the nice woman I met told me this, I didn't really know whether it was a compliment, or everyone thinks I am just nuts.  I never really think that people notice me on the quiet streets we run.  I guess if I really think about it, I don't know how we can't get noticed, with the boys singing loudly, complaining loudly, me huffing and puffing my double running buggy (more praise about that gift from God later) up some big hills, or the numerous stops I make to pick up random toys and sippy cups that are thrown from the buggy (which I consider cross-training--all the bending and lifting)!

So, welcome to my little blog.  Since having kids, I have become a better runner than ever before.  I have always been a runner, (my first cross-country race in grade five had me hooked) but now running has become something that is a constant in the crazy little world I live in.  I have been in more races in the last 2 years, than the 10 years before that (and that includes my marathon days in my early twenties)!  I love the challenge of a good race, and the medals that my kids wear around the house afterwards.

My son Elliott is 3 and a half, and little bro Milo is 1 and a half.  They show promise as being runners themselves, as they never cease to impress my husband and myself as we chase them through malls, supermarkets and anywhere else that proves embarrassing :)  My husband also likes to run as well, but we haven't run together consistently since we were dating a decade ago!

That is where I will leave things for my first post.  I hope to make my blog pretty before long, but for right now, the "simple" template will have to do ;)
